Behind the Wheel French (8 CD Course) (Behind the Wheel) review:5 stars (Excellent Organization and Method) - In looking at some of the reviews on this page I have to ask myself if I ordered the same course as these people. This review is for Behind the Wheel French 8 CDs by Language Dynamics.
Lest you be swayed by the panic reviews that state that there isn't enough time to repeat or that the months of the year or the days shouldn't be presented in this order .... blah, blah, blah. Here are my objective, unbiased and clear opinions:
First of all, the course is great. Easy to use and I mean E A S Y.
This is not the first Language Dynamics course I have used, nor will it be my last.
In my opinion the method used is beyond reproach and is far superior to anything out there that I have yet experienced.
Celine has a marvellous and clear voice. Mark sounds confident and knowledgeable.
Together they form an instructional 'team' dedicated to teaching you how to speak French.
One is armed with native knowledge and native accent of the French language.
The other, teaching experience and understanding of learning French as a native speaker of English.
This rare and invaluable combination provides you, the learner, with a double insight.
Celine's native accent and fluency.
Mark's teaching experience and understanding of the French language.
I understand from the website that Mark was even rated as an EXCELLENT instructor by his students at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Wow. Nice credentials.
Celine on the other hand is fresh, clear, concise, and her voice and accent are easy to
imitate.
The organization and method involved are superb. Nowhere have I found a source that has taught me so much French in so little time.
How do they do it?
The system is actually quite organized. More traditional minds may view it as 'chaotic' because they are perhaps secretly seeking that grammatical 'morass' that constitutes most foreign language learning approaches. And if it isn't grammar that some miss, then it's RIGID structure. Some people have a problem with flexibility in a language course.
They want regimented structure.
I myself am so GRATEFUL that Behind the Wheel French has an omnipresent and underlying structure that is at times to subtle as to escape notice.
What does not escape notice however are the results.
I was forming my own original sentences within my first half hour with the course.
I learned French that was immediately useful. I began practicing my speaking skills immediately.
This organization and method have been heretofore unknown to me until I puchased my Behind the Wheel French course.
I am delighted with the results that I am getting from this course.
I believe you will too!3 stars (Review of Behind the Wheel French) - I'm still working with this. I think it would be tough for someone who had never taken French before to learn from a CD. That's not really the CD's fault though, just the fact that sometimes you need to read the French words to be able to pronounce or understand the words correctly. I did take a bunch of French though so it's a great refresher. It's fairly painless doing it on the way to work and back. erhaps my brain is slow, but it would be nice to have a bit more time to think of the answer when the teacher asks you how to say something you've gone over. 5 stars (Buy This Course/You'll Be Happy You Did) - Once you buy this French course, as far as basic communication is concerned, you need buy no other. This is a one stop, easy-to-learn, easy-to-use French language course.
Unique in its approach, creative in its technique, I owe it all to this great course.
HOW DO THEY DO IT?
After careful analysis of the method and course I have determined that the key to its success is in part due to the sentence building techniques that get you talking the language fast.
My second observation is that the learning approach is so low-key that my anxiety level fell through the floor at the same time that my language proficiency was soaring.
My third comment is that this course held my interest more than others I have used. It was actually 'fun' to learn French using this course.
Fourth, the memory techniques really work. They repeat the same information at different intervals throughout the course so that you memorize without the 'rote'. You really don't even notice it.
Fifth, the interview technique gets you 'engaged' in the learning process. You feel like and are an 'active participant' in the language learning process.
Sixth, it doesn't matter if you're interrupted a thousand times (and you will be, believe me). You can repeat the track at the push of a button and the material will almost magically 'reappear' at a different strategic point later on in the course.
Seventh, The voices were very nice and easy to understand.
From my personal experience and the great results I'm getting, Behind the Wheel French is by far the best on the market in its category.
