Jewel Thief review:2 stars (I feel slightly cheated!) - My major complaint with this "book" ist not the story but the lenght. I had expected more than some mere 45 pages, which were barely enough to develop either the characters or the plot. The story had sounded so promising to me and I am sure, I would have thoroughly enjoyed it, had the author turned it into a full-lenght novel. But as it is, it only left me with the wish for something more and a niggling feeling of having been cheated out of six bucks.4 stars (Great book!) - What's a girl to do when she wants to be filthy rich but doesn't want to earn the wealth she dreams of? Well, in this blisteringly hot erotic BDSM, the gorgeous woman chooses to be a "Jewel Thief" who has never really considered the price she would pay if she were to be caught, until the night a botched job forces her to endure an enlightening, and life changing crash course in Sex Slave 101.
Elena Beckett has picked up some useful skills as a jewel thief over the past year, and thanks to her partner-in-crime, James, she has quite a few successful heists under hear belt. Elena is well on her way to her first million in thefts with no intention of stopping, even if Jack, playboy extraordinaire, and the next "lucky" victim that will be divested of his family jewels *grin*, has her belly doing flips worthy of any circus acrobat.
On the night of the heist, everything seems to be going smoothly, the owner is out, James is taking care of the alarms and all Elena has to do is get to the safe, get it open, grab the goods, and get out, sounds like a piece of cake, right? Yea well, that fragile wall of invincibility surrounding Elena comes crashing down around her when she, once again, comes face to face with Jack, only this time he isn't very happy about seeing her in his home in this situation.
Jack London isn't up for playing the role of a victim tonight so he turns the tables on his gorgeous little thief by oh-so-generously offering her a choice between a long prison term and a week of being his sex slave. Prison is not an option Elena wants to explore, so she chooses the week of what she mistakenly assumes will be just sex-on-demand and, having traded her body for favors in the past, she thinks she'll fly right through the week unscathed. Both Jack and Elena are in for the surprise of their lives when her crash course in submissiveness, and introduction to fear, pain, pleasure and loss of control will result in a beautiful expression of the love they come to feel for one another, a loving exchange of power.
If you're in the mood for a great BDSM story, you won't want to miss "Jewel Thief" by Claire Thompon. I love how Jack and Elena started the week not interested in a relationship, but yet they found themselves in one that became so much more than either one of them imagined possible, it just goes to show you that love can be found anywhere, and in any situation!
[...]5 stars (Gorgeous Thief Caught in the Act) - This short story (About a quarter of a novel in length) hits the ground running with a very sexy smart jewel thief (a la Emma Peal in the Avengers for those of you old enough to remember)who gets caught by the handsome playboy she is robbing. He offers her a choice - go to police, or be his submissive sex slave for a week. Having no choice, she takes the latter offer and finds herself completely enslaved - kept naked and bound, fed by her 'master' on the ground at his feet, and adored by him sexually as well. She discovers that what she thought was going to be a horrible ordeal is instead an eye-opening soul wrenching experience of deeply exciting and erotic awareness. She has to come to grips with her deep submissive streak and the fact that this man has completely taken her over. Like all Claire Thompson works (except her earliest rough stuff) this is a romance through and through, but a spicy sexy one with characters that you can relate to and understand. I loved it.
